What's New in my life?
A lot of wonderful things have been happening these past several months...
First, I quit smoking on October 21, 2000. I started the horrible habit when I was 13 years old and I thought I would never quit. When I was 17 years old I started smoking 2 packs a day. By the time I turned 23 I sometimes smoked 4 packs a day. A pace which never slackened by much.
I loved smoking and I continued to love smoking until the very day I lit my last one. I still love the smell of cigarettes LOL and I still carry a pack in my purse and a lighter. Every few weeks or so I'll take one out and just smell one unlit-- and then put it back into the pack...
I had no known health problems because of the habit, and my family seemed, physically, unaffected as well. But my spirituality had suffered for several years because of simple cigarettes. And on October my prayer was answered. I woke up on the 21 and I lit a smoke and I said: "I smoke this as a friend." and then I smoked another announcing it as "an enemy". The symbolic "divorce" helped put the habit to rest. But more so than any words was my faith and my mind-set.
I've not faltered once, praise Jehovah.

Which bring me to the most important change:
I am studying to become one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
I have followed many paths during my 26 years... and I have searched many different religions. I have always had a great love of the truth even if such love is hard to practice at times. One of my favorite sayings is: "Wisdom does not a wise man make." Meaning, even though I have at times KNOWN that what I did/do is not pleasing to God-- actually changing those things is quite different and often much harder.
I have found my spiritual "home" and I can hardly wait until I am able to dedicate myself completely through my life-style, practices, and through a re-baptism into such so that I may be able to serve Jehovah to the fullest.
My family and I have been going to our local Kingdom Hall since around February 18 of this year. We go to meetings on Tuesday and Thursday nights and on Sunday. I even restarted a book study I had prematurely ended almost a year earlier.
There are many changes yet to be made until I'm completely happy, :) , but these important first small steps mark the start of many yet to come. I look forward to those future steps with much eagerness!
